Hello, Nat! How are you?
It depends what you need the Methadone to treat. It it's for chronic pain, then any doctor can prescribe it, but due to the new regulations, you'll need to see a pain management specialist if you require it on a long-term ongoing basis.
However, if you require it for drug addiction or maintenance treatment, then you can only receive that in a clinical setting from those that are specially trained in its use for such.
Learn more Methadone details here.
This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
I can search for listings in your area, but I need to know what you're looking for.
Can you please post back with more details? Thanks!
Well I'm currently going to a methadone treatment center everyday and tapering off pretty quickly. I'm going for chemical dependence but have a laundry list of other medical problems including carpal tunnel, scoliosis, spondylisthesis, with the xrays to go with it. I'm leaving to go to Jamaica and the Bahamas the day after thanksgiving and needed only a thirty or so so day supply to hold me over and to continue tapering down. I have blue cross blue shield but my only concern with that is what it'll look like on paper.
thanks for your help!
Natalie
I've been on methadone for fourty years I'm 65 years old I'm on Medicare now and they don't pay for methadone programs i recently had a bad accident and broke my neck had to have six titanium put in my neck i have a lot of pain I'm on ssa and only receive 1,378.00 a month
Nancy,
I'm so sorry to hear about your situation. Sadly, your in a better position than many I counsel. Some have ssi income totaling 775.00 and pay 265.00 a month for MMT. It's certainly unfortunate but very little can be done to offset the cost since most clinics are private or semi private and as such don't have to meet the same set of standards for qualification purposes. There are no known funding entities. There is one exception made solely at the discretion of administration to provide a charity care exemption for those with circumstances beyond their control. If you enjoy a good relationship with your provider that's something you may wish to investigate. Best wishes...
