False Positive On Drug Test For Methamphetamines (Page 2)

I recently took a hair follicle test and it came back positive for meth. I've been clean since April 24, 2013. I was on Trazodone and Prozac until roughly July. My hair said I was positive with only 2100 points on the chart. Could it be from my meds?

I'm also on Prozac and have tested positive twice now! Thing is I haven't touched any amphetamine in about 3-4 years! So frustrating..

Any medication that lists pseudoephadrine, cold meds and allergy meds have them added. I am asthmatic and was prescribed allegra D and the same thing happened to me. When this happens just have the lab person send into lab for verification and they will "spin" it which means that they break it down to the chemicals, and they can tell if it is meth or medicine.

I am assuming you mean false positive for a urine drug test. Did the lab do a confirmation test using GC/MS to make sure it was a false positive? Anyway there are most likely many substances that might cause a false positive that is why I recommend going to a MRO. A Medical Review Officer is a doctor trained to interpret drug test results and say why you are getting a false positive. Some of the asthma meds might have amphetamine like compounds to open up the bronchial passages so if you use an inhaler that might be the culprit especially if it was a low level of positive. What OTC medications & prescription medications will result in a positive outcome for amphetamine & methamphetamine when this is false positive? I do not abuse the illegal substances the lab provided to me. I have asthma & stomache issues like reflux, heartburn & possible ulcers. Please call me at {edited for privacy} for a run down of all the OTC & prescriptions that I take.

One of the great features of hair drug testing is that it is good at isolating the metabolite that for a particular drug which reduces the incidence of false positives. The number 2100 most likely means 2100 pico grams per milligrams or 2100 pg/mg. That appears to be low or recreational use. As far as the meds causing a false positive I doubt it. I don't know how many inches were tested and the complete time frame (when the hair was collected) so this is the best answer I can give.
