No, medications do lose effectiveness over time and even under optimal storage conditions in the original factory sealed container, the maximum shelf life of any of them is about 5 years. Thus, these should just be disposed of properly.
The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, nervousness and insomnia.
