Expired Amoxicillin - Is It Still Safe To Take?

Recently ive been sick for 4 days with tonsilitis...i cant go to my family dr as i dont have an appt so i have no choice but to take amoxicillin from phil., which expired last sept of this year. I feel ok now but my stomach pains bothering me now..my former dr prescribed me of tecta. i took one tablet ..im just worried for my liver or any organs after taking an expired antibiotics. i took it 4 days every 8 hours..

Expired antibiotics can get you a dose of toxicology. It depends on how long and which kinds go bad.

Expired Amoxicillin isn't one that gets dangerous, once expired, but it does start to lose effectiveness, so it may not work as well as it did, when it was new and this could create the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria.

Thus, it would be best to see your doctor for a new prescription and dispose of the expired medication.

Typical side effects to this antibiotic may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash, headache and diarrhea.

Yes, in the factory sealed bottle, most medications are good for anywhere from 3 to 4 years, so you are well within that time frame.

But you should only take it, if your doctor approves.

I have some Amoxicillin that was prescribed to me when I went to have wisdom tooth taken out a year ago. Date of manufacture is 12/09/2015. Expiration date is 12/09/2016. Now I have a strep throat. Can I still use them?

My daughter had an ear infection 3 months ago and I still have two bottles of amoxicillin in the fridge. Is it still good if the expiration date says 12/02/17?

My daughter got strep earlier this week. My husband tested positive for strep this afternoon. And now my throats hurts & is bright red. I don't have a fever and don't feel bad other than my throat. I have an extremely important meeting tomorrow, so my question is will taking amoxicillin capsules which expired 11 months ago help me at least make it until tomorrow afternoon- at which point, I promise I'm going to the doc. I just need to make it through this meeting without looking and feeling like death.

I have had a bottle of Amoxicillin TR-K CLV 875-125MG since 11/09/2015 and my ear has started to hurt and I haven't taken any. Can I still take them or not? Does amoxicillin expire?
