Expiration Of Sulfamethoxazole (Top voted first)

Hi, I have some sulfamethoxazole 800/160mg and the prescribed date was 9/17/2013 and I was wondering if it is ok to still use? Thank you!!

If you think you have an infection that requires an antibiotic, it would be best to see your doctor for a new prescription. Medications tend to lose effectiveness over time, which means that this one may no longer completely eradicate the bacteria, which puts you at risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria.

The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
