I have sample Diovan 160mg from Doctor I just found, sealed from 2009. Is it still safe to take now in 2014?

No, that is way to old for it to have any efficacy left.

Even in the original factory sealed container, they are only good for about 3 to 4 years from the date of production, after that they start to lose efficacy.

the best thing to do would be to dispose of them and see your doctor for a new prescription.
