Well its now jan. 22. and the generics are gone.Ever since the 1st.Walgreens or anyone else aren't carrying the generic OC's.They were available the months before jan. but no more.This after I had a battle with Silverscript (CVS) after they dropped oxycontin from their formulary. After weeks of arguing back and forth they finally accepted my Dr's request to cover it, only to find its off the market, period.It probably didn't help that Ethex and Apotex were charging full price for generics.If anyone knows different please let us in on the info.

have no idea where you are located but as far as them being gone... they havent gone anywhere/in fact more pharms are now carrying them and they are three-four dollars cheaper than they ever were. I have yet to pay over 9 for them?

No the question is where do you live.When I tried to refill Rx after the 1st and not one Phar., from Wichita to the Missouri border will carry generic anymore.Not Walgreens,Dillons ,CVS, K-Mart,Walmart,etc.,etc.,etc.Everyone said they are no longer available.I hope that changes!!!!

walgreens near my home orders them three times a month. i don't know where you live but that doesn't even matter. ethex and apotex have contract with purdue to DISTRIBUTE the old formula and pay royalties until 2015. Do you actually think a company as big as PURDUE would have committed suicide by completely doing away with their number 1 selling medicine? do your homework ---this info is available to everyone.

Im well aware of all thats gone on the last 7 yrs with Purdue.The fact is their making OC's available anywhere is a slap in the face of the FDA who forced their hand with the reformulation to OP's.All I know is as of the 1st all the Walgreens in Wichita say they are not available anymore!!!-Smokejaguar

Yes the generics (sometimes) r avail at other pharm's u jus gotta call or go in n ask! I have found them periodiclly at rite aid, cvs, n most frequently wallgreens! (The catch is u always need2 ask 4 the generics k)

Yes,yes,yes, u can get they at right aid, cvs, and sum other pharm's but u gotta jus ask 4 the generics and u hav2 b persisttant (yeah u may b received as an addict but) that's the people in society who hav not lived in pain jus deal with it the best u can k! Ps. Every store will either say (there is no generics anymore or they r not avail) but I from xperiance no otherwise k! Good luck pss (yer best bet is indeed walgreens for10's 20's,40's. Or the 80's) they do not carry the other misc dosages so if u get the 15,'s,30's, or 6d's don't bother lookin (they're r no genies k) good luck my frenz! All my info is from personal, factual xperiances k:-)

Hell,,in Kansas and Missouri the Phar. wont even discuss whether they have them or not.Even long term customers cant get a straight answer unless their standing in front of them holding a script.Which means if they dont have them I have to go back to the Dr. to switch to say Roxidone.-Smokejaguar

When taking oc 80's, 2tabs 3x's daily, I had a normal life. Pain was dulled enough that I could get up & out to get everyday things done including tending to my sick elderly mother ! Now she takes care of me ( when I can't move) AND THIS ALL STARTED WHEN THEY TRIED TO GIVE ME THE "OP'S" ! I threw up a thick like syrup, & got massive headaches ! Will they ever come back with the original oc's? I take #2 40mg OPANA 3x's daily, & even though I tell my Dr. That they're making life tolerable, I must lie, as I've tried so many different MEDS, & don't want to get stuck with something worse, as these Dr's get sick of trying one med after another at some point ! Like doing cortizone shots & trigger point injections AGAIN, after they've already done that 2-3x's already ! What's the point in trying the same thing over & over, only to expect a different outcome ! ie: since these are extremely painfull, u will think twice about complaining again, or u could end up with nothing, other than a pass the buck down the line, to another Dr. Who ask's you what MEDS have you tried ? Huh ? Did u not read my file ? MY QUESTION WOULD HAVE TO BE: R THEY EVER GOING TO REINSTATE THE OC 80'S ? TO BE HONEST, IF IT WERE NOT FOR MY OBLIGATIONS TO HELP TAKE CARE OF MY DISABLED ELDERLY MOTHER, I WOULD DEFIANTLY LEAVE THIS SO CALLED EXISTENCE, AS THIS IS NOT LIVING, NOT WITH A DEGENERATIVE DISORDER, THAT'S THE NATURE OF THAT BEAST, IT NEVER GETS BETTER, IT DOESN'T ALLOW FOR A BREAK, IT ONLY GETS WORSE !

It's now come time for me to refill my scripts and I can't find generic oc's anywhere. I get 100 of them, so I am desperate to find the generic. My insurance won't pay for the Brand at all. I'm willing to go within a 200 mile radius....Help? Thanks for your replies.

In TX Walgreens is the only company still with the OC generic version.
Walgreens corporate stocked up on them while they were available on the market before they got discontinued. This means Walgreen stores will have them until their local warhouse runs out. This means some area Walgreens will have them while other areas may only have the brand name (which is all the new OP version now) in stock.
For users in TX having problems getting insurance to pay when there is no generic available anymore make sure you have your doctor sign the "Brand Name Medically Needed" section of the prescription. If they do this the pharmacy will enter a code in the computer. Insurance companies know that the generic version was removed a while back, however since they still can be out there they need to know that there is no choice in your area. They recognize the Brand name needed and will process it then, however you will still be charged your brand name copay. (ie what you pay for any drug that doesn't have a generic yet)
