i WISH i could give you an answer but it appears that walgreens is DISCONTINING the ocs. Its not that they aren't being made, Walgreens doesn't want the liability any longer. Ask your local ma and pop pharmacist to check with distributor to get ethex or apotex generic oxycontins. I have done this and my pharmacists now has a lead on getting them. I will post how it pans out.

Hi Irene,
Just tell me what to ask for. I called 38 walgreens in my area and could'nt find them. This is the first time I couldn't find the oc's, but walgreens says they aren't making oc's anymore and they are using up whats in the warehouses. But if you can tell me what to ask for that I haven't tried please tell me cause I HATE these op's. They don't work as well on my cancer pain, and give me a terrible headache.

Hi Focus,
The answer to your question is the generic oc's are only available at Walgreens, and tey are just what they have left in the warehouses. When they're gone they will be no more. Purdue is no longer making them for the US market. So now you have to shop around every month from one walgreens to another till you can find them. It sucks, believe me I know. But this is the first month I have'nt been able to find the oc's at a walgreens, and had to get the crappy op's, and they do SUCK. So you just have to shop different walgreens till you find one that has them, and they are getting harder to find.

Atleast your finding them! Had a great run up until January! They've been out up here in the Northeast Ct and New York for sure! Hope they switch back! Haven't found one person completely satisfied with them yet! Good luck y'all!!!

It is getting tough out there anymore to find any generic 80mg OC at Walgreens, either Entex or Apotex. Went this week and had to settle for the 54 that only one store in the entire area had in stock!

I sure hope things change cause I can't afford the name brand price, nor do they work as well as the generics

Yes Irene, me too. But when I went on March 1st, only one walgreen in the entire Pensacola area had only 54 of the Apotex OC 80 in stock. Don't know whats up for next month. I sure hope they can restock.

I live in south florida and have been catching hell as everyone else with the op's but it is true walgreens does have like 4 or 5 manufactors that make the generic brand there are the only one's that carry it on a regular basismaybe try walgreens mail order pharmacy and reqest generic I know you would like your meds right away like anyone else on oxy's but good luck

I've been on one hell of a roller coaster the past couple months since taking this new formulation. To go into specifics would take an hour but suffice it to say, I'm VERY concerned for my health from whatever was added to this new formula. I KNOW there is harm being done to some of us from these 'OPs'. Anyway, I wanted to add that there are finally news stations looking into the problems. One station, based in Arizona (or it may be Texas) has already aired & written up their article for all to see. I believe its an ABC affiliate, if you can't find the article online, let me know & I'll post the link. But they HAVE spoken to Perdue, who is very well aware of the problems...hoping this gets resolved in some way...and fast!

Irene, I replied to another of your post on another site, after going to 20 different Walgreens - NO LUCK! I too am in Chronic Pain like it appears many others are too in this Forum, and I am freaking out that now due to all the abuse and government smoke screens put in place to stop the "abusers" that we that are truely in pain, are for lack of a better word - SCREWED! If you know of anywhere close to Tpa, Brndon, Seffnr, PC or ClearWtr that might still have them...... like maybe Wally World or such - please advise! Thanks!

OBTW - I agree with you.... to stop them completely would be corporate suicide and no court in this land can compel any self respecting CEO or panel of board members with deep expanding pockets to just oh say agree to STOP making money........ can they? Thanks!!!!

incidentally, PURDUE no longer holds the patent for the 40s, 20s and 80s...it has expired. if you yourself wanted to and had the ability, you could make them yourself. The Walgreen's that I go to orders 1500 3x a month. thats one Walgreens out of a gazillion that is going through 4500 80s a month. There are 12 Walgreen's in a 20 mile radius where I live. in the past 6 months in my area, the Walgreens have sold 3 MILLION AND 24 THOUSAND 80 mg oxycontins. That is just three suburb towns of Tampa and does NOT include Tampa. These are not old inventories. The patent expired which allows generic companies to distribute, hell if they could afford it they could make them! This is Purdue's way of STILL MAKING MONEY off their #1 seller and getting out of the FDA's sight. With my Walgreen's discount card I pay $9.41 per pill. 7 months ago, I was paying $13.11 per pill when it was brand.

Hi, They are right techs are lazy and they don't want to do anything. You may talk to them, pharmacist Etc: they may order & check see if any generics. You can call Perdue and see whats going on and give them your 2-cents (opinion) ask questions ( purduepharma.com get 1-800 #) good luck!

Like I said ,there are pockets around the country were they are still available..If you bought generic they had to be real OC's.All I know is these stocks will run out .Unless something has changed ,, legally Ethex must be sold and Purdue not manufacture the old type of time release..Purdue won't let go of control of the original formula. They spent 5+years in the courts keeping it.Personally I think some pharmacies just dont want to be bothered with it.And as far as being cheaper , Walgreens in Wichita were selling them at full name brand price..-smokejaguar .

y r u so negative? every post u have mentioned how the old supply will run out etc...purdue is a HUGE CORPORATION that would not have just stopped producing their number one selling drug without a backup plan. THAT WOULD BE CORPORATE SUICIDE. they found a way to make the officials happy and still provide their customers with what they want. they are at stores everywhere. you just have to know what to ask for. as for them being old supply, that is simply NOT TRUE. Purdue is STILL manufacturing them and apotex and ethex have contract to distribute til 2015. SO, FOR THE NEXT FOUR YEARS, THEY WILL BE AROUND. Purdue has not bought these companies they are simply paying royalties to Purdue. The FDA may step in and shut it down, walgreens may discontinue carrying them...BUT as for right now, they ARE STILL BEING PRODUCED BY PURDUE and distributed by ethex and apotex.

Actually last month I filled my Oxycontin 80mg perscription and received the generic aka "OC's". They are definitely not the new Purdue formula. As of 01/20/2011, you can still get the Ethex Oxycontin 80 mg and they are a hell of a lot cheaper and potent then the new terrible formula.
