And by the way, to all the people who are claiming that the new OP formulation is released over 12 hours as opposed to the Old OC formulation which releases over 6-8 or 8-10 hours nothing could be farther from the truth. Do some research and see for yourself.

The FACTS ARE: The old OC formulation was made to release it's active ingredients over 12 hours. Look up the old inserts from your older OC prescriptions or read online. It probably feels more like 6-8 hours to most people becuase you reach peak plasma levels at around 4.5 hours, and also because of oxycodone's relatively short half-life. However the new OP formulation is designed to release it's active oxycodone ingredients over a 24 hour period (probably because of all the plastic crap embedded inside the pill, this is the closest they could come to in terms of trying to match the release time-frame of the old OC formulation).

Look online for yourself or do a google search of OP formulation 24 hours. Or new Oxycontin formulation 24 hours. You will only find one or 2 articles that claim this fact. That's also really shady, why purdue is trying to basically hide this fact that the old pill released its active ingredients over 12 hours, but the new OP releases it's active ingredients over 24 hours. All the new articles on the new formulation just say that the new and old formulations are bio-equivalent, which just means that they both have 80mg of oxycodone as their active ingredients, but says nothing about the huge difference of 12 to 24 hours between the OC and OP formulation.
Also it's a fact that the inactive ingredients of a pill affect how well the active ingredients get absorbed into your bloodstream. for most people on the old OC formulation they were probably absorbing anywhere between 65 to 90% of the old OC formulation. However the new OP formulation most people are getting closer to 20-40% total absorption rate of the active oxycodone ingredient, which is why a lot of people are claiming little to zero pain relief or are experiencing severe withdrawl symptoms. By changing the inactive ingredients to make the new OP formulation supposedly abuse proof, Purdue incidentally reduced the total absorption rate of the old OC tablets. I would venture to say that most people on the new OP's whose bodies are having a hard time breaking down the all the embedded plastic in the new formulation are prob not even getting close to 20% absorption rate and are probably closer to 5-10% absorption of the active oxycodone ingredient.
No wonder on other country has accepted this new s--ty OP formulation. Canadians, Europeans, Austrailians, and even Mexicans get to stay on old OC formulation while Purdue is making us in the US their guineapigs with this new OP experiment. All the while, that reall CPP who have never abused OC are suffering, the real abusers (who will abuse anything, whether it's OC, OP or whatever else they can get their hands on) are already cracking Purdue's abuse-proof formula and nothing is chaning for them. If anything this OP formula has driven down the street price of OP and will make this medication more generally available at lower price for abusers to get their hands on and abuse.

I'm looking for a Good Generic for 80mg Oxy's after getting the OP's which made me sick & did lil for my Pain & then I herd there's a Good OC Generic but I'm having a hard time finding out The Brand I'm gonna need to know when I get my new script,my Dr gave me a script & found out when I went to PU it was for Morphine & the 1 & only time I took one I had trouble breathing so I didn't take anymore & took the whole bottle back to the Dr,I'm not sure why I was given it again & had the Dr said anything at my apt I could've said something right then,I didn't bother to call my Dr I knew how crappy I felt -w- the OP's & at least I had 15mg OXy's to take & did my best to get through the pain & day's..I have written to Purdue Co & Voiced My Opion as well as a few others & I hope the Un-do the OP's so I can get back to living -w- my pain better,this AM I woke up in Major Pain maybe the weather was to blame & I'm hoping for brighter day's....Any Help -w- the Generic GOOD OC's,a Brand Name,ect would be appreciated...

sickofpain---if you haven't read this entire thread, than go to the beginning and read it. The old oc's are still around at your local walgreens. You need to ask for generic oxycontins made by ethex or apotex and they are the old formula ocs that you are used to. Also, go online and read up on your meds. There are different methods that you can use that may help you. For example, if your 15 mgs are not working like you think they should, I have read that taking them when you eat say fried foods or fatty foods will allow them to work to their full potential. Also, my dr told me like 6 months ago to buy robotussin dm cough syrup and take with my medication and it would allow the medication to work to it's full potential. Just do some research. If you are depending only on the 15mgs for pain relief then try to get the most out of them until you find your long lasting meds. And again, just go to walgreens and ask for the generic. read earlier replies to get full info.

Thanks Irenewilde,I did read some of the posts but one person said one thing & another would say that wasn't right & became frustrated,my 15mg's work ok but when I've been taking 80mg OC's but only have a few Crap OP's & not many 15mg's left it's no wonder I'm not getting the right amt of pain relief,I was on 3 80mg daily Oxy's & 4 15mg Oxy's for breakthrough pain every day so lil wonder I've been feeling the way I am & I just wanted to get the best info I can find so I can try & get the Pain Under Control ASAP,Thanks Again.

sickofpain; thanks for info: i'll call and complain. if you are interested in finding out for yourself-google ethex and oxycontin or apotex and oxycontin and you will get the answers you are looking for. Believe me i go to walgreens and get the old ocs each month for the past 4 months now. if you have the walgreen's prescription card, they will only cost u $10.41 each. u rnt getting pain relief cuz u don't have ur long lasting meds. the 15s r merely breakthrough meds.

I'm just trying to give ppl info that they might want or need,I've been on the meds for about 10 years or so & I guess I'm sensitive to certain ingredients & Pain is hard for some ppl & Doc's to get to a level both are happy with,I think for as long as I've been on them my tolerance is pretty good I'd rather not take more meds if I can help it..

Why will no one answer the question of wether or not the ethex are at any other pharmacy besides walgreens? If you dont think they exist please dont respond. Im only interested in hearing from the people that know what they are talking about.

The ones from Ethex are NOT a generic Oxycontin, they are only distributors for Purdue. That's why the ones they have had out had the OC marking on them, as soon as those are gone, they will also only have the new formulation with the OP marking.

really verwon? AGAIN? THE OCS THAT ARE BEING FOUND AT WALGREENS ARE CONSIDERED GENERICS AND, THEY ARE MADE BY PURDUE AND DISTRIBUTED THROUGH ETHEX AND OR APOTEX. WE'VE BEEN THROUGH THIS. JUST GOT MINE FILLED ON THURSDAY AND IT SAYS RIGHT ON THE BOTTLE GENERIC FOR OXYCONTIN. THEY ARE INDEED THE OLD FORMULA. ETHEX AND APOTEX WILL BE DISTRIBUTING THEM THROUGH PURDUE UNTIL 2015 WHEN THEIR CONTRACT EXPIRES WITH PURDUE. I KNOW ALL THIS. I AM THE 1 WHO TOLD YOU THIS IN THE BEGINNING OF THIS THREAD. I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT STILL IF ANY1 HAS GOTTEN THEM ANYWHERE ELSE BESIDES WALGREENS. THAT IS THE QUESTION, HAS BEEN THE QUESTION AND OBVIOUSLY STILL REMAINS THE QUESTION.

Yes they can me found out CVS along with Walgreens the Ethex ones! I know of one other place but I gotta keep that one a secret so they dont go missing in my area! Hope this helps Irenewilde :)

I'm in the central caLi area, cannot find old oc's at all. WaLgrens up and down the coast are not receiving anymore when ordered. Walgreens was the only place who had them besides costco. Not at cvs or kmart or saveon or safeway or any other pharm. Walgreens was it now they say no more.

So does anyone out there know what the next best thing is? The new formula doesn't work for me. I feel bad for all who cannot find relief now. After cancer, 3 back surgeries, 6 knee surgeries and a total knee replacement, without the oc 80 mg I can't even get out of bed in the morning. If anyone knows of something that might be close to the old fomula please let me know. Thanks
