Eryko 250/ Erythromycin
UpdatedHi I was given eryko 250 yesterday and im taking 2 tablets every 6 hours, but im experiencing pains under the diaphragm, its almost like heartburn, but its quite sharp, is this normal or im allergic to erythromycin? please help this pain is killing me
I also would like to know why it is recommended to take before meals?

Erythromycin can cause abdominal pain in some people that take it, but it can also cause some more serious problems, such as pancreatitis, so you should check with your doctor so they can figure out what's going on.

And it can actually be taken with, or without food, so if it's causing stomach pain and it turns out to not be a serious problem, taking it with food may help prevent the pain.
