Endocet Vs Oxycodone (Page 4) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI HAVE BEEN ON OXYCODONE FOR OVER 2 YEARS AND MY DRUG STORE RAN OUT AND GAVE ME ENDOCET? SAID IT WAS THE SAME THING BUT MY BODY TELLS ME THAT IT'S NOT THE SAME. HAS ANYONE ELSE HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS CHANGE?
I am so very sorry for your loss. I am also sorry that you clump all pain med users into one category. I have been on Percocet for 10 years. I take a low dose for a chronic user (60 mg's day). In 10 years I have NEVER had to increase me dose. I went from being an active & busy mom of 5 boys to being bed-bound for several years. I finally found a DR who said I needed pain med's so that I could regain an active (semi) life again. It worked. My med's are stored in a safe & I have a perfect use record for 10 years. I work very hard to get better using natural care & treatment as well. I use my narcotics as a stepping stone to recovering from my health condition. Before I began my med's, I seen 5 types of experts (addiction-to diagnosing chronic pain to psychiatrists, etc.) to determine if I was a high risk patient for addiction, abuse or if I was lying. On day 6 the entire team came together at one table with myself & my husband & without hesitation, they approved me. They ALL had agreed that narcotic chronic pain med's were the answer for me. I have never abused my med's or lied to my DR's. I am so grateful for the ability to have this treatment option. I suffered for years prior from trying all sorts of treatments & med's that would not work for me. My children (3 are adults now) are all grateful for this option & how it changed my life for the better. 15% of chronic pain sufferer's who use narcotic treatment options abuse their medications...does that mean that the other 85% must suffer just because someone else makes poor decisions for their life? Anyone (21 & older) can drink as much alcohol as they so choose & everyone says "It's their choice to drink & their choice to be an alcoholic. When taken correctly, narcotics are far less destructive than alcohol but yet people want to decide what is best for me based upon some idiots CHOICE to abuse a medication. McDonalds has a worse health effect on the body & mind than narcotics taken correctly. I don't eat fast food, sugars (natural or otherwise) carbs, etc. so can I take unhealthy food away from the population because I know how bad it is on the mind & body? I get asthma from perfume, can I make the population stop using perfume & colognes? These chemicals are bad for their health as well & it actually affects others too. My medication affects only me. If some druggy wants to abuse med's & die or go to rehab, that is their personal choice to do so. I don't care so long as I am not paying for their decision. Again, I am sorry & heartbroken for your loss, however, I don't believe that other peoples mistakes & tragedy's should dictate the outcome of my life/future. Dr's are always being blamed for patients addictions but have we forgotten "PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY" in this nation? Addicts lie & it is very difficult at times for a DR to try to determine who is lying & who is telling the truth. The DR to should be free to make his/her best judgment & leave the ultimate responsibility up to the patient & that is who should be held accountable...the PATIENT. I wish everyone the best. If you feel that a loved one is abusing any intoxicant, you have 2 choices, try to get them help or allow them to suffer the consequences of their actions.
You people are a bunch of illiterate, uneducated morons. Percocet is the original brand name Oxycodone, Endocet is Oxycodone as well just the generic equivalent of brand name Percocet (Endocet is made by the same company that produces Percocet).
Any other manufacturer that produces Oxycodone sells generic forms of Percocet just with different fillers.
When I read people saying Endocet is Hydrocodone it just proves that most people are not informed nor knowledgeable on this subject.
Don't even bother posting if you don't know what the hell you are talking about, people come here to get help with medication issues and are met by people that have no clue what they are even talking about.
Jim...im going to assume u had used Percocet that was made by Watson pharmaceuticals. They recently merged with actavis pharm and discontinued making the Watson generic Percocet. Im assuming this becauae i too am having a hard time finding another medication, brand or generic to help manage my pain as well as the Watson generic Percocet s did. There are hundreds of people on this website, other sites and blogs, etc that are having this same issue ever since watson stopped making their drug. Search n u will see there are many who are having trouble finding relief now. For those of u who say all generic s r the same or generic s r the same as brand...etc...sorry but u r incorrect. They are all different from one another, brand or generic. One manufacturer is different from the other. I saw on here somewhere someone said there could be as much as 20% difference below or above...despite what ur all reciting here, he is absolutely correct. When actavis started to produce their generic Percocet when they merged with Watson, the actavis generic was making everyone ill on top of giving no pain relief. Many including myself called the company actavis and the fda to put in a complaint. The rep at actavis revealed that they were receiving complaints like mine. I also asked her about the differences in the makeup between the two and she confirmed what I already knew...she said their could be up to an 80/20 difference. ..I confirmed as little as 80% to as much as 120% difference n she said yes. SO you van all choose to believe what u want, copy whatever information u have in front of u on here....I know what it is and isn't. For all who are learning all this for the first time, I always say do ur research when u come across something u read and r wondering if true or not. Good luck in finding some pain relief jim
The sleepiness is prob from the withdrawals. Almost all our bodies are dependant on the meds....not so much a bad thing as long as we're not abusing our medicine. Its the same as if we drank soda 3 times a day for a few months then stopped....we'd be gettin headaches n dizzy n god knows what. Actavis called me again this morning....I was trying to find out what are the percentages in the active ingredients in the Watson's and the actavis. Lady told me all she could tell me was the only active ingredients were oxycodone and acetaminophen n both were the same n the only differences were with the inactive ingredients. I have a hard time believing that since Watson oxycodone gave everyone pain relief n the actavis didn't help one bit. She couldn't give me any answers as to y...then I asked her if actavis is using the drug deterrent formula in the oxycodone in Percocets? She had no clue what I was telling her so I had to explain to her what I read on HER companies website about actavis using the drug deterrent formula in their oxycotin but then the articles talk about the oxycodone so its not real clear inwhat drug r they using it for....she had no clue so I asked her what dept she was in n she said drug info or something like that...I asked if I was getting punked...I told her how is it possible that ur in the dept for drug information and questions yst all uve told me is I cant tell u that, I don't know, and im unaware of that? How do u not know what information is public on ur companies website or anything about the newspresses theyve had n made public? How is it I have to tell u cause u don't know anything. ..how do I know about the studies ur company did with recovering addicts n how the result is worse than before they started doing trials on their drug deterrent crap? I told her she is nothi g but a message taker n she should Google actavis Percocet then Google actavis drug deterrent formula. ...when she was finished with informing herself about thecompany she works for...then she can call me back with answers cause I dont want to hear I dont know n I dont havean answer... im schooling her on her job... bunch of bs.....so we'll see what happens next
I think endocet is great! But it is hard to find. I'm on brand name now. Where do you find endocet? Sometimes they have it and sometimes they don't. I used to be on watson brand.
The whole pharmacy industry is only getting poor quality generics , I mean bad. I can't find any pharmacy that is carrying any thing but amneal, Actvis, zydus, par, all are garbage and people are getting screwed paying for these low quality generics. Yes a real free market system we have here.
I absolutely agree. I miss my good pain meds.. I feel like the crappy generic I have does nothing.
Lex....are u on straight oxy 5mgs? Cause endocet is oxy n acetaminophen together.
Which drug stores still carry Endocet? My Riteade says their changing suppliers and will no longer be able to supply Endocet. The gen. Generic of Percocet does no more than Tylenol for my husbands pain. The formulary drug for BCBS doesn't even list the brand name of Percocet. I live in Bucks county but I'll go any where to at least get the Endocet.
My personal opinion is people react to meds differently. The ENDOCET has not helped me at all where as the oxycodone I was taking before did.
@Post #121,
Wow. That was a little uncomfortable there Bill. I hope your mood has improved since that post. So I felt compelled to explain to you exactly why I think you are wrong, but first. I should say to an extent, Im with you though Bill; the world is full of people who don't know nearly as much as they think they do, and I too have often found that confronting their ignorance as aggressively as possible often leads people to want to keep learning- you know? How dare they ask questions or try to seek out further knowledge- intelligence is something your born with right Bill?
How dare they try and learn from scholars such as ourselves, right Bill? I'm sorry this sarcasm is killing me! Bill you bully people who try and spread a little experience on chat rooms and I'm glad you do- because I get to take my frustration with the day out on you.
Sounds like you are looking more for that "high" than you are for pain relief, that is why it's not working.
I am on Percocet (oxycodone) for bulging disc and arthritis in my neck. Since taking these meds every month I realized there is a wide range in effectiveness from different manufacturers. I find Endocet to be far superior than many of the generics. Rhodes pharmaceutical pills really suck for me. I need to take 1.5 to equal 1 Endocet. They are like two different meds in there effectiveness. It is really amazing.
Yes, it made me nauseous and gave me a headache. My pharmacy changed to it. Now, I go to a new pharmacy that has Malin croft or activas. There's something in those endocet that just did not agree with my system.
I have been filling my script at the same drug store for a year no problems. Script is for oxycodone, a month ago my husband had a hip replacement while visiting him I needed my script filled so I took the script to hospital pharmacy along with his scripts . When I picked up hubby n scripts my amount of pills was 60 pills short of doc dose , I asked to take the filled script back and return my script I was told no. I cannot get the amount doc prescribed . I said I should have been given the option befor they filled it , to take it to my pharmacy , very rudely told no. My doc has filled out all legal forms for this drug I have a chronic pain condition. Also I had breast cancer and was given chemo at this same hospital , my doc works out of said hospital . Another battle of people who don't abuse opioids and have a problem getting a drug that improves the quality of my life. I feel that the way this was handle was wrong , but when I made a complaint , they called my doc and gave him a hard time I feel he is going to get tired of all this stress and I will be out of options. What are your thought or what can I do I've tried all other pain meds nothing helps but oxy thx
Endocet doesn't work as well as brand name or any other generics for that matter. I can tell a little that I took one but it doesn't have the same effect, it almost seems to be 1/2 as strong as the brand name and all other generics...
I went to Wal Greens and had my script filled, thought I was getting Watson hydrocodone 10mg. What I received was Mallinckrodt 10mg. It did absolutely nothing, nothing at all! I thought I was getting Watson 853, so I went all month with nearly nothing to help with pain. The next month I went to CVS and didn't get Watson as they have changed companies, but did get Quali-Test. I had a severe reaction to the yellow dye(I'm assuming, but can't be certain that was the cause). Took care of the pain wonderfully well however. So I don't know what to do this month. I believe I'm going to go back with the Quali-test hydrocodrone.
I 100% agree with you. I have a severe back injury and have run into same exact issues. Because some one else abused prescription drugs those of us folloeing the docs instructions amd just wanting to function and have some sort of quality of life, we are treated as drug seaking addicts when we are far from it. You are right the other side of the story needs to be told. My prayers are with you and your family.
I would also like to talk about the fact if you are out of your meds for a few days when you get them your body will try and catch up with the levels you are acustom to having in it. For example if I was taking percocet 10 4 times daily for a month and ran out for 3 days then got my script, my body would not feel the relief from just taking one, but after it got the level up to standard it would become comfortable there. Many people get this mixed up and think that it is generics suck, this is only true for the M brand generics Malicrodt pharmacuticals, they are terrible.
