Effectiveness Long Term?

I was just put on the gabapentin 100mg 3x daily for severe leg and hip pain. I also take tylenyol with codeine at night. Do the side effects wear off of drowsiness/dizziness? My pain comes from spinal stenosis of the lumbar, and osteoarthritis. I am hoping this will will be a long term fix as nothing else has been. I am still in need of working and have not been able to due to all my ailments.

Hello, Debra! How are you?

Yes, such side effects are usually transient and should taper off, eventually going away entirely, once your body gets used to the medication. However, if your dosage is raised in the future, you should expect to experience them again for a few weeks.

You may also experience dizziness, dry mouth, weight changes and mood swings, as listed by the FDA among its common side effects.

Is there anything else I can help with?
