Erdosteine is the active ingredient in Ectrin, it is used to treat various types of bronchitis and other similar respiratory disorders.
It should not be taken by those with hepatic cirrhosis or cystathionine-synthetase enzyme deficiency and special precautions need to be taken if it is used in pregnant or lactating mothers.
