During Pregnancy Sulfameth Trimethoprim

I am 35 weeks pregant and my doctor give me some sulfameth trimethoprim for a boil could this hurt my baby can my baby have a defect.

This antibiotic, which is a generic for Bactrim isn't recommended during pregnancy, because animal studies have shown severe risks to the fetus.

There's also a pretty high percentage of people that end up allergic to it and if you had a reaction, that could also put your baby in danger.

Have you contacted you doctor about this? There are other much safer options that you can take.
