My daughter is 12 and has recently been diagnosed with ADHD. She has been started on this medication..Vyvanse. It seems to be helping her concentrate and her behavior seems better. However, her appetite is poor. I would like to take her off the medication for weekends. Her doctor thinks it is better for her to take it 7 days every week. Do you know if thats necessary?

Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that. My research suggests that patients who use Vyvanse should be aware that they can suffer from serious withdrawal symptoms if they abruptly stop using the medication. Therefore, I think it would be best to speak with your doctor about switching your daughter to something that won't alter her appetite- or have her continue to take the Vyvanse every day of the week like your doctor has instructed.

You can learn more about this drug on the page for Vyvanse Details

I hope this helps, please post back if you have any more questions!
