They can be taken together, if your doctor has instructed you to do so, but the By-Mycin may slightly reduce the efficacy of the Augmentin.
As to which is better, it really depends on the type of infection being treated and its severity. What has your doctor said caused the infections?
The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
