My dermatologist prescribed me Doxycycl hyc 100 mg to be taken for 3 months! Is it normal to take antibiotics for that long? I m not sure what for did she prescribed those exactly... I have eczema on my hands and acne on my back . Normally prescribed creams help to clear out my skin. Do i really need to take those pills?

She most likely prescribe it to treat the acne, since some of it can be of bacterial origin and this antibiotic is commonly used to treat it. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
Taking them is up to you, you aren't obligated. If you have concerns, you may want to contact her to discuss it.
