Hi Denise,

Yes, Doxycycline can be used to treat Strep Throat. However Penicillin is touted as the preferred Antibiotic, at least here in the US, due to it's cost, safety, and overall effectiveness.

Should you ever wind up needing a more effective solution down the road, Penicillin's broad-spectrum would definitely get the job done in areas where Doxycycline falls short.
