Dosing Question

I am searching for a dentist, however in the meantime I addled my doctor to prescribe penicillin for a very painful broken tooth. The dentist had previously prescribed me 500mg worth 1000 as the initial dose. My doctor prescribed 250mg and after 3 days it
is not working. My question is, can I double up the 250mg to make 500mg?

An antibiotic will only help if the pain is due to an infection and, in this case, that may not be what's causing it. It could just be due to the broken tooth being sensitive and that isn't going to resolve, regardless of how much antibiotic you take, until you see a dentist to have the tooth fixed.

Is it aching constantly, or just when you breathe, eat or drink?

If it isn't always hurting, then it most likely isn't an infection.
