Ilvitrim is just an antibiotic, it contains the active ingredients Sulfamethoxazole and Trimethoprim, it's used to treat many types of bacterial infections, so it isn't just given to HIV patients.
It may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea.
