Dog, Abcessed Tooth, Pain, Oxycodone

Hi, my dog has been suffering severely from an abscessed tooth and we found tramadol to do wonders for him.. Well he's outta them and I was wondering if I could give him oxycodone, until I can get him to see the vet? He's 8 yrs old and about 15 lbs. I'm outta work and can't afford to have him seen right now... Thank you so much.... P.S. my poor lil guy..

There is a great risk of your accidentally overdosing your dog by giving him too much of the Oxycodone.

Overdose symptoms in dogs can resemble those that are experienced by humans, and may include nausea, disorientation, sedation, and trouble breathing.

Have you called a vet? They may be able to provide you with advice that will help, until you can take him in.

Alternatively, you may want to reach out to local charities, and rescues, as they sometimes assist people in your type of situation, so they can keep their pets healthy, and happy, while being unemployed.

Do you have a vet that you take him to when you can, like for a yearly check up? If so, call and explain your situation. I’m sure they’d help, no one wants to see an animal suffering. But please, do not give him any other medication. It would be easy to overdose such a small dog! Good luck.
