Does Methadone Show Up In Drug Test

i recently took a urine test for a custody hearing and came up positive for oxycodone. i am taking 10mg methadone tablets 4x's a day for spinal issues. can the methadone come up positive for oxycodone in a drug test that probation officials give? i heard him say that he seen the methadone in my urine but i thought it had to be tested using a specific test. is it possible to get a false positive because of my methadone?

Methadone will show up on a drug test, but it WON'T show up as oxycodone. Methadone is an synthetic opioid and oxycodone is an opiate....different substances that WILL NOT show up as the same thing.

If you really took nothing, and I mean NOTHING, other than the methadone, it's time to figure out what is going on. I would begin by going on the internet to make sure your prescription methadone pills are really methadone!!!!

If you have a prescription tell them right away. Never wait... I'm in the middle of custody court too and the best thing to do is be honest because there's going to be a lot of things said through out the court process and you don't want them to ever think your lying. Once they label you a liar your screwed. Trust me I know because that's what's happening to my ex. Anyway, back to your question... methadone only shows up as methadone and it has to be specifically tested for. If their testing for opiates they almost always test for methadone too. If you real haven't taken anything else ask them to send it to a lab and check it again.

A few things are working in your favor to not have it show up. First, hair follicle tests are meant to show continual use over a period of time. If you honestly only used once and it was a small amount (I don't know what mg was in that teaspoon), very likely it wouldn't show up in a hair follicle test. Second, due to the growth rate of hair six days is probably not enough time for it to show. Hope this helps, best of luck!
