Hi Brenda,

Looking at Medicaid's "Preferred Drug List" for Wisconsin (which was reportedly updated as of 9/26/2014), I'm not seeing Sucralfate (Carafate) listed on there at all.

So it seems like you may have to actually ask your doctor about an alternative medication for preventing/treating ulcers (which is what this medication is indicated for).

If you visit the link above and click on "Preferred Drug List Quick Reference", just scroll down to the last page (#13) and it will have a list of approved medications used for treating "Ulcerative Colitis". I imagine that the drugs listed in this category would be similar to Carafate as far as its indications are concerned for treating ulcers.
