Does Fentynal Patch Fall Off

I used to wear fentanyl patches myself 100 mcg. There are two things you should be aware of. The generic brand (as opposed to brand name Duragesic) has been associated with varying inconsistencies. While brand name drug and generics have to be equals in their chemical make-up as mandated by the FDA, the delivery system does not. So please, ask your doc. This drug is ALL about the delivery membrane. Secondly, if you want to spend any time in the sun for any good length of time, you will begin to feel signs of overdose and/or low blood sugar because you will release the drug too rapidly. Because of this, you may feel withdrawal before your three days are up. Also, for good adhesion, try covering your patch with a product called Tegaderm. It might be kind of hard to find but your pharmacy can order it for you. It comes in different sizes. Choose one slightly larger than your fentanyl patch. Hope some of this helps.

Denise very good advise about Tegaderm patches, they also stop that gross linty build up around Fen patch that causes sores & irritation. As for different brands, find one you like and refuse others even if you have to go to a different pharmacy! Even under a pain contract you can go to a different pharmacy if yours does not have your script in stock. Just remember to call pain clinic & tell them you filled at different pharmacy because your contract pharmacy couldnt fill script. As for heat, very very important. If you start to feel funny, dizzy, anything pull your patch off! Even go so far as to rinse patch site with water. Where you place patch in the summer matters. You do not want it on your back if you will be standing or playing in sun. I am only telling you this from personal use, I am not a dr but I have figured out a few things to keep myself safe. The last thing someone who lives with chronic pain wants to do is accidently overdose. Good way to say good bye to any pain meds. If I am going to a concert in August I make sure I didnt put a new patch on the night before, preferably go on a day 3 patch. Even if it means being in more pain and not changing patch until day 4 and just taking break thru meds. Or cut your patch in half. That way you avoid withdrawl &/or OD because heat dumps too much of medicine in to your body. Simply put other half on after you get home and are no longer in sun.
