Does Amoxicillin Go Bad With Age? (Page 4)

I bought 100 amoxicillin caps about 3 years ago and stored them in a dark place and I was curious if they would still be good to take.
Hey to the 11 year old kid that is now 20 years old...Would you possibly say the same thing now...you are pretty smart and probably a physician as well..Thanks kiddo!
How long can amoxicillin be stored for a kid? She has a throat infection she is 6years love to suck her finger this is secound time in amonth she has infection i still have some left should i give her or go to the doc?
I have amoxicllin expired august 2014 can I take them or they won't work.
I have a chest infection i get one every year around the same time. I haven't had time to see the doctor. I had amoxacillin from last year 17/12/2013. I have been taking them for a few days now and still have wheezing. Do you think they aren't working? Plus my urine is really yellow. I'm not sure if this is related to the tablets? Does anyone know?
amoxicillin is for "bacterial" infections only..not viral, which is what a COLD is....do not take amoxicillin for a COLD!!
Amoxicillin is a fungus. If anything it gets better with age. Don't listen to these shills. I've taken penicillin from 07 in 14 - worked like a charm. They want u to finish it, want u to spend more money, they lecture u about resistant bacteria, but dead up, if u have an infection, no money, & old amoxicillin, TAKE IT. Not going to do s*** but clear up ur infection. I've done it more times than I can count.
I have one and a half bottles of liquid amoxicillin. The label says expires after 14 days but the bottle it self says it expires a year after I filled it. I think my UTI has returned and need to prevent this. Could I still take it?
That, and people with Mitral Valve Prolapse keep them for the dentist too.
Shows the quality of advise on sites like this when an 11 year old (honest as he/she is) is giving the advise!
You're absolutely right. The reason many people ask if they can take expired amoxicillin is because they can't afford a doctor OR a new prescription. Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could afford a doctor and medicine whenever they got sick?
in the USA, prescription drugs expire in one year, per regulations (FDA, presumably). Many common drugs like amoxicillin CAN last many years longer.
I'm still waiting for a post from someone who has a clue. Are any of you medical professionals? Are any of you MD's or Pharmacists? If so, I weep for the future of medicine
Funny thing about the 11 year old boy. Excellent comment.....he is now 19 years old.
People, there are reasons to self diagnose like being stuck out in the desert with no M.D. available and a dose of drugs you bought in Kuwait or Dubai where such things can be bought over the counter.
Not necessarily, I just read a medical report that it can be effective from 12 months to 7 years, so your comment isn't accurate
Where do you go to get it on line I have some liquid amoxicillin that my husband had prescribed to him about a year ago and it didnt take long for it to clear up and he didnt finish it he still had 2 bottles never opened and didnt no if it actually went bad and now he has the same exact thing happening again.
that's not the question. Stop trying to be a hero.
In 2011, my doctor gave me the standard 500mg Amoxicillan prescription. (That is standard...for those who like to freak out about things like dosage and expiration dates.) These were capsules. He told me that I may not need the entire prescription, (again, for those who like to freak out about "zOMG!! You have to use them all when they are prescribed!!!11!!!"), and that if I stored the remained in the fridge, that they would last at least....note those key words, "AT LEAST" two years. Okay, Katie's of the world? It is NOT dangerous to take amoxicillan years later if you store it correctly, and sometimes the doctor will give you a prescription for more than you need.
My son is complaining about his throat hurting,he had some liquid Amoxicillin I save from 12/2014 which make it 4 mths old,can I still give it to him?
