Does Amox Clav 875 Mg Treat Bladder Infections In K-9's

It is Saturday night and My female K-9 has uncontrolled urination and last time this occurred about a year ago the Vet prescribed Cephalexin 500mg. I have Rx of AMOX-CLAV875 125MG, can I use this in place of the Cephalexin until I can get her to the Vet on Monday?

Sorry to hear about the urinary incontinence. I hope your canine is doing better today. According to NIH, there was a time when amoxicillin was once routinely used to treat UTI's and bladder infections. However, due to strain resistance and higher recurrence rates than other available treatment options, amoxicillin is no longer the recommended first line treatment. On the other hand further reports suggest that it may still be used in cases where there is documented urine culture susceptibility.

Ultimately you'd have to call a vet in order to discuss specific dosing information for your dog, including Rx efficacy; but it sounds like it'd be worth trying in my opinion.
