Does 90mg Aday Compare To 25 Mcg Fentanyl Patch

My pain doc. changed me from 30 mg methadone 3 times a day to a 25mcg fentanyl patch every 48 hours since I started I have had nothing but hot and cold flashes / withdrawal for 3 days and almost zero pain control does anyone know what the conversion rate of 90 milligrams methadone per day vs 25mcg fentynal over 48 hours is? I honestly don't believe that the fentanyl is a equal dose to the methadone am I right or wrong any help would be greatly appreciated thank you very much

I'm very sorry that you're so miserable.

However, to be honest, there is no direct conversion for your doctor, or anyone else, to use going from Methadone to another medication. Methadone is very well known, as reported by the NIH, for causing withdrawals, regardless of what it is replaced with or how slowly someone tapers off of it… and with no direct conversion chart, your doctor has to kind of guess.

The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

The best thing to do would be to inform your doctor that it isn't handling your pain at this dose and see what they suggest.
