Hi I am trying to find a doctor in the Rochester, NY area that will prescribe hydrocodone or oxycodone. I am even willing to travel to Buffalo area, that is how hard it is to find a doctor that just doesn't want to give you a bunch of shots that don't work. I have been on opiates for 15 years. I just recently left my pain doctor that was prescribing me fentanyl. I asked to be switched to something not as strong and an oral medication. I hated the patches. She refused and wrote me for a month and told me to find a different doctor. Now I am in a pain management setting that will only do inj's., I just want to be pain free and be able to play with my daughter again. I feel horrible when she asks when my back is going to be fixed. She is only 5 so she doesn't understand. I can barely function at work, scared I am going to get fired. Please Help.

It's an Anti-Pain Relief Movement going with Doctors, due to Ins. Co. pressure. I'm from Buffalo New York & classified Perm Total since late 1990's due to a Negligent Catastrophic Work Accident. I've been on the strongest pain meds. available over 16yrs with great success, never had a problem, until recent. Doctors will jump thru Hoops for Insurance Companies & will Cut You Off no matter what. I'm now in excruciating pain(level 10+) 24/7 & looking for a REAL DR. that Honestly Cares & takes the Hippocratic Oath seriously. Any Help in W. N.Y.?

I'm in PA and I'm having the same problem! We lived here several years ago and we moved to another state! We came back and now everything has changed! My surgeon is in here and I just had my 9th back surgery! I'm only 52 and the last year I've been basically bedridden because no one will give me enough meds to walk! I was told 2 years ago someone in NYC did some mind of a test that proved a 20 mg oxy does the same as an 80mg! Next, Philadelphia followed this same study! I told them they should have included me in this study because their findings are BS!!! Please let us know if you find a doctor! Apparently, the DEA is giving pain doctors a real hard time! In the mean time people with chronic pain can no longer have a life!!!

I live in NY have been on major chronic pain medication for 24 years then out of the blue it seemed all the doctors who prescribed the needed opioids I tru needed left the area and now they only want to torture me with needles in my back that has so much damage I need a compassionate pain doctor who knows I'm not drug seeking but am in true pain I have my MRIs to verify my injuries but can't fi a single doctor any information I would truly be great full for

Were you able to find a doctor? We are moving to NY and I need a pain doc! Just had my 9th back surgery and suffer from chronic pain! We've been living in OA and no one here will write narcotics!!! I just lay in bed constantly!!!

Wanting to be pain free isn't realistic. There is no way of knowing what another will and won't prescribe. You may want to get a copy of you rnedical records from your previous pain dr and read what they say because a new dr will more than likely want a copy.
