Doctors Willing To Prescribe Pain Medication In Rochester, Ny (Page 2)

Hi I am trying to find a doctor in the Rochester, NY area that will prescribe hydrocodone or oxycodone. I am even willing to travel to Buffalo area, that is how hard it is to find a doctor that just doesn't want to give you a bunch of shots that don't work. I have been on opiates for 15 years. I just recently left my pain doctor that was prescribing me fentanyl. I asked to be switched to something not as strong and an oral medication. I hated the patches. She refused and wrote me for a month and told me to find a different doctor. Now I am in a pain management setting that will only do inj's., I just want to be pain free and be able to play with my daughter again. I feel horrible when she asks when my back is going to be fixed. She is only 5 so she doesn't understand. I can barely function at work, scared I am going to get fired. Please Help.

It is unfortunate for us that have chronic pain. We are looked at as drug addicts, due to so many people who are not in pain who are abusing medication. Each month when I go to my medical doctor he keeps asking when I am moving to Florida, he says this because he doesn't want to prescribe pain meds. Do not go to Dr William moorehouse if you are in rochester, he asks when the last time you have been to church and tells you to pray away the pain. He asks church related questions and tells you to pray yet according to ny state health dept he has been cited for having intimate relations with a patient and yes he's married. Had I known this when he told me to pray and asked when the last time I went to church I would have repeated the same to him. I reported him for his religious comments to me. I was not going to him for church related services.

Upstate pain clinic on Sully's trail just dismissed me after years of pain meds. To be told he will not give out pain meds any more.he is switching to medical marijuana.. Not cheap initial visit for this is $250.then each visit after is $100-150. And you have to get approved for a card to go to a dispensary. Good luck ,I was told. That I was going to be cut off and never switched to anything else. Dr said I'm sorry but basically told to deal with it chronic pain due to arthritis, birth defects and spinal stenosis. In other words deal with it.

I stumbled across your site. Is the site to help people who suffer from chronic pain find Dr's that are still willing to prescribe pain meds for those who truly need them?

And if so could you please tell me how to become a member. It has become harder and harder to find Doctors who are willing to prescribe and those that do in my areas are usually at full compacity and are not taking any more patients.

I live in upper NY area around Ithaca/Corning/ Binghamton/ Elmira area.

I am very desperate because the ones that are taking patients only want to push some sort of electrical stimulator that needs to be inserted into my neck and I am not willing to have that done as of yet.

Hi Ron. This specific discussion thread is indeed centered around helping others locate a doctor for pain management. There are a wide variety of doctors to choose from if you Google pain management in your location (NY)...However, there is no guarantee that whatever doctors you find will be willing to prescribe what you want or need, as that is based on their own discretion. Just something to keep in mind. My understanding is that patients either have to abide by the new way of treatment that these doctors are providing or opt to be their own self-advocate with natural/alternative therapies.

It's disheartening to hear that so many physicians are resorting to such invasive alternatives over more practical treatment options; essentially making "doctor shopping" the only way (short of a miracle) to find the right care these days.

Also, there is no membership required to participate in any discussion thread on this site. People share information out of the kindness of their heart. :)
