Same as many: pain doc retired. Must find a new one. I've been on high doses of pain meds (so I hear) 30mg mscontin 3x day, 20mg oxycodone up to 80mg per day. Doc retired. General MD retired same month! I'm now starting completely over. Insurance: medicaide, HIP, MDWise. Southern Indiana. Can someone please suggest a doctor, or point me in a very helpful "same" direction? Have to wait a month for ins. About to lose my house. Can't work, can't sleep, can't concentrate. I have about 1 month to make something work fast. I cannot go through some long, long, referral here, referral there, back again thing again! Need results! Need doc, now!

Hi "worried chronic pain patient" I know ur post was quite a while ago, but u said u found a Dr? I am moving to Elkhart/South Bend area from FL due to fiance's job. I have been in pain mngmt since 2008 due to 3 totaled car wrecks & a couple other bad wrecks (btw I was only at fault once due to something lodging under the brake, the rest I was a passenger) & a failed back surgery. Needless to say, I have chronic pain & am so worried that I won't find a Dr. in IN. I don't have the $ to see multiple Dr's just to be treated like a drug seeker. Nor can I afford to run the chance of being labled one in my search for a Dr. If u could recommend a Dr. I would truly be grateful. US chronic pain sufferers must stick together since it seems everyone else is against us!

Just to share the latest... One, I'm on Medicaid. It took 4 months of phone calls and weeding through a list of nearly 200 doctors, to finally dwindle down to 75 anesthesiologists and physiatrists. Of those 75 specialists, only 2 did NOT DEMAND that you consent to multiple steroid injections as part of therapy (regardless of whether it makes things worse - which it has for me since 2009.) I finally found a doctor. BUT, he has recently made a decision to only treat patients within a set milage radius, as the "powers that be AND HATE US" are saying he's prescribing too much pain medication to too many patients. Some of his patients have had to drive over 100 miles - JUST TO FIND A DOCTOR!!! So, I might be losing this doctor.

WHAT IS WRONG PEOPLE! I didn't ask for the problems I have with my body. I am treated like the garbage of the medical sewer - just because I am a chronic pain patient!!!

I have been in 8 car wrecks and have chronic back neck n leg pain I need a dr that gives percet or loratabs in louisville ky or Southern In anyone know a dr who gives pain killers without doin pain management

What this government has done is beyond ridiculous! "War on drugs"? The only things I've heard of, as a direct consequence, from the "Responsible Opiate Prescribing" legislation that passed are these things: 1. More and more chronic pain patients suffering, left far under treated, or completely untreated. 2. More and more (untouched and unaffected) cancer patients willing to sell their pain medication. 3. A surge in the availability of H. WAKE UP! This goverment's intention to HELP the situation has made things FAR WORSE!
