Doctors Who Prescribe Methadone Located South Of Boston Ma For Pain

Hi,
I have been on methadone for pain for several years. I hate going to the methadone clinic because I am uncomfortable with most of the people using the clinic. I am looking for a private doctor who will prescribe methadone for pain and is south of Boston. Thanks for any help you can provide

If you have been going to a Methadone clinic, then that is going to be noted in your records and even if you weren't going for addiction treatment, a regular doctor won't be able to prescribe it for you. Thus, I'm afraid a clinic is your only option.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

That isn't what he said. What he said was if the patient had been to a methadone clinic even for pain, once he shows those records to the new doctor, red flags will pop up and that means a doctor can't write a prescription for pain using methadone

Try a methadone clinic if all else fails n you cannot find that particular Dr. I always suggest to people that are on pills that if you moved than any new Dr Shold be able to obtain via fax your records from other Dr and give you the prescription you have been on my Dr here in NC did after seeing my paperwork from DR from NY

Get off the methadone, but only under a hospital's supervision. Get a script for morphine or synthetic morphine instead. Methadone has a longer half-life than morphine, meaning it remains in your body twice as long. When you build up a tolerance to your methadone, it is tempting to take more. As a result, it builds up in your system and you can easily overdose. It also causes a ventricular arrhythmia (as do all morphines as well) but it is extreme with methadone. It can be deadly to anyone with arrhythmias. The withdrawal is horrible and prolonged. People who have been through the withdrawal say they would rather die. It can last for weeks. Why dr.'s are so hot on prescribing these substitutes for morphine, would be a mystery, except for political reasons and the DEA and FDA. My advice is to use some alternative pain control, and cut back to one of the lessor opioid RX's. These drugs should not be used if surgery or lesser opioids can be used. I don't even know how people without chronic intractable pain, or who are dying are getting these large prescriptions for methadone. You will only require more and more and soon it will no longer work. I feel all pain should be treated, but start with the lower grades of morphine and alternative methods of controlling pain, unless you have life-threatening illness or are dying.
