I wonder if anyone is comfortable giving their pain doctor's name out online. Maybe through a private conversation....but not a post for Everyone to see. Surely that would bring on harassment to the doctor, right? I Do understand people tired of doctor shopping because there are so few available. It took me 2 years and that doctor finally SLOWLY gave me some medication so I could get out of bed. A VERY SLOW PROCESS. I went to a doc and asked for what I wanted (what worked best with less side effects...by the time you're a senior you KNOW what works) but they saw me as drug seeking, billed the insurance for a drug panel they didn't do...I reported them to the insurance company but he's still practicing even though he's guilty of fraud. AND found out he doesn't even prescribe. He puts drug pumps in for another doctor to fill. I can't do the pump for physical reasons. You have to be having some fat for the unit to be under or it will work out of your skin. Read about the pros and cons. Not a choice I can do...leads break and batteries need changed. Get educated. I hope things change. I hate prescription meds...would rather do the oil from medical marijuana that doesn't cause mental effects...safe and deals with pain. I can't wait to use that and kiss the pills goodbye that don't work half way anyway. It takes a good doc to know how to do steroid shots. Not many around like that. We are in a bad place. I would give 5 years of my life for a month of relief.
Hello, Sherri! How are you?
If you require such a medication for the long-term ongoing treatment of pain, you'll need to see a pain management specialist, due to the new directives set forth by the DEA last year. Most general practitioners aren't going to want to take the risk of prescribing it.
Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone? If so, that might be the quickest and easiest way to find the help you need.
The FDA lists this medication as being a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
What is your general location? This information might enable someone to recommend a good doctor in your area.
Again you’re talking about two different diseases with two different medications. You need an arthritis medication and you need a fibromyalgia medication. You do not need narcotics for these conditions
Hi Sherri,
I dont get the oxy but i AM prescribed Dilaudid & Morphine. I live in Raleigh. Is there a way to communicate privately if you want more information? Good luck. I understand the relentless pain! Neurontin helps too...
I just saw your message as i took to the computer to look for help as i just lost my pcp who was writing my oxy 30's for well pretty much nerve damage everywhere. plus numerous other reasons..... I am at a loss that so many of us suffer with no where to go. You said no one would give doc's names out which i get that. I wish there was an easier way for us. I've been through pain management in the past and was a nightmare. lost a few doc's along the way and now after a few months at finding a caring pcp that didn't want to see me go through that again is leaving and i'm thrown back in the P.M game again. I'm scared as i have no clue what's going to happen. My doc is leaving suddenly and we only got one referral for P.m and i looked the doc up and he doesn't even write what i'm taking and i have tons of allergies to all the other pain meds, can't even take inj's. cause they cause severe reverse reactions to me. I guess in a nutshell been there done that. I just wanted to reply as i feel everyone's pain and scared and don't know where to turn. I wanted to reply to your post. Sounds corny i know, but i just wanted to write in hopes someone read this and did know a pcp or pain management doc that still actually writes oxy 30's. seems along with my klonopin that's the only thing that works for me.... Wish they would have passed the medical marijuana, i had hope for a minute to be out of pain until that was shot down.... what a shame. Well if anyone reads this reply and know's a doc who will write in Ohio. Please let me know... i'm out of time. I prefer the pcp doc's as they don't treat you like your an addict...... thanks for any help...... I also wrote because i could not figure out how to start my own topic and your's was close to what i wanted to write.... thank you

sherri, i wish you luck. it is very hard to find pain mgmt drs willing to prescribe especially up north. i really dont care what some people say about narcotics cuz all i kno nis they are the only meds that have worked and ive been on this pain train since 2005
Re: Judy (# 7)
Exactly! I can't believe some of the reasons people were getting such strong narcotics. I mean, Fibromyalgia, arthritis, and bone spurs and they were getting Oxycodone AND morphine???? Geezus Cripe! Bone spurs and the other 2 things do NOT warrant end of life narcotics like these two. I know someone who has been on methadone, about 240 mgs. per day PLUS about 800 mgs. per day of hydromorphone and NO I am not exaggerating. I do not know what kind of doctor would rx this much to any one person but the patient has been addicted for over 30 years. Almost burnt house down so many times nodding out with cigs and also burnt finger down to bone and never even felt it or woke up. THESE are the people who are getting the strongest meds, the one's who really do NOT need them. I say this because this person I know has come up with SO many pains and has had numerous surgeries for petty things and we all know surgeons WILL operate just for the money. NO one with Fibromyalgia needs strong narcotic pain meds. They may have been getting them before all the deaths by doctors with loose rx policies but I highly doubt they will ever be rx'ing for such maladies as these. Take arthritis medicine, take Ibuprofen and use ice and heat.
