Doctors In Tn Who Accept Medicare For Pain Pump Patients
UpdatedMy situation is about to be dire as due to Medicare refusing to pay for pump meds to my clinic, my doctor is going to have to drop his Medicare patients. He has a very strict policing schedule with meds and a lot, most, of pain patients around here won't go to him because it's very hard to get meds from him. You have to take a class/counseling sessions for 12 weeks when you start his clinic. You start with one week of meds, then they move you up to two weeks, then finally a month. You bring meds and are given a U/A every month. Now 'I forgot" bring the meds and they actually count the meds. The previous clinic just gave you what you wanted, would let it slide if you didn't bring meds 'just this time' and never counted pills. Still, Medicare claims he was overpaid and has refused to pay. 80% of his pump patients are on Medicare so without payment he can't stay open as he was actually funding pumps refills out of his own pocket. He was able to do this as he is unusual in that he owns his compound on-site pharmacy and mixes his refill meds there. But this time he is basically out of funds. There are no doctors who take Medicare patients with a pump within 150 miles of his clinic. So basically, I am screwed. I have no idea what I will do but die.
