Diltiazem Cd Er (Top voted first)
UpdatedI have been told by my Neurologist that this drug Diltiazem cd can cause Parkinson like symptoms in a small group of people. Where can i find more info about this?

Just to clarify for site visitors, there is no difference between any of the stated medications.
All of the designations, such as CD, CR, SR, XR, ER and etc. denote the same thing, which is that it is a time released formulation.
Thus, yes if someone is having a problem with it, it is most likely due to some difference in the formulation itself that creates the time released mechanism used by a particular company, or due to something in the inactive ingredients. Similarly to what TJ posted.
And yes, it has been documented that some people can develop Parkinsonism from calcium channel blockers, though it is very rare.
There are more Diltiazem details available here for anyone needing more information, it also includes the potential side effects.
Can somebody explain to me what the differences are between Diltiazem CD 180mg Cap(sule?) vs. Diltiazem HCL ER 180mg Cap(sule?). If I remember correctly, a pharmacist told me that the ER stood for extended release and that the CD type of the medication was quite different, but I'm not sure about that. TYIA.
I'm sorry to post that to somebody's question. I don't know how to delete it but will post it as a different topic. Sorry for the duplicate post.
As above-besides $40 what is difference between Diltiazem HCL er(cd) and Diltiazem cd(dilt cd) 180 mg daily dose
All I can tell you is, I have taken Cardizen CD for 20 years with no problems. Everytime a pharmacy gives me ER, XL, etc, anything other than CD, I have terrible side effects. I get palpitations, anxious, nervous and I have to go back to the CD version of the drug. I was told by pharmacist that the different kinds do work differently in the body, and that the fillers in the medicine can cause these symptoms that I experience. Hope this helps!
