Different Manufacturers Of Hydrocodone
UpdatedI have taken hydrocodone 10 mg for several years, and sometimes get jittery..sort of like speedy..and uncomfortable. I noticed the other day that I have two different sizes of pills (from a different pharmacy last month). Is it possible that one manufacturer has an ingredient different from another? My doctor and I have been trying to identify why I get jittery for over a year..and I think it has to do with manufacturers.

There can be differences between generic medications, since under the Hatch-Waxman Act of 1984 they are allowed to differ from the name brand by as much as plus or minus 20% in the amount of the active ingredients. They also don't have to measure against each other, thus it is possible that one of them is higher or lower in the amount of Hydrocodone, which could explain your symptoms.
The FDA warns that this medication carries the risk of being habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, and constipation.
Thus, you may want to look into that aspect. What are the markings on the pills you're taking?
Wow!! How interesting...Both meds are white. One says "U03" and the other "176"..I'm aware of the side affects, but this started after I had been on hydro...I am dependent, starting from total lumbar fusion, and then last year, two hip dislocations and an emergency hip revision. I have seriously considered stopping all pain meds and just dealing with the pain, but at 76 years old, is it worth it, or do I just continue.
As I said, these two meds are from from two different pharmacies in town ..one a small boutique pharmacy, the other a major chain drug store. I thought they used to be yellow..maybe that was before generic. Thanks for your useful insight!!
Bill,
No disrespect intended but at advancing years any slight differential as mentioned under wax-hatchman can result in symptoms consistent with signs of clinical abstinence syndrome. Underlying conditions can have devistating complications when magnified by Withdrawl of opiates/ opiods. I would highly suggest consulting with a specialist if seriously contemplating a COMPLETE cessation of opiate/opiod therapy. I sincerely wish you the very best. God speed,
Kenie.
Thank you so much for your advise. I am monitored monthly by my PC doc, and we have been discussing general change in meds for the last six months. I take your comments with great respect.
Hi Bill,
How did you make out with your DR? I'm in a similar situation, and fear for my future.
My doctor and I figured out which Hydrocodone 10 manufacturer was the one causing the problem, we switched, and within a week the side effects I had been having for over a year stopped!! RELIEF! I wish I had found MedsChat earlier... Thanks everyone who helped!!
I've heard a lot lately about the different manufacturing companies that make Norco 10/325. I'm confused about which company to look for? - I guess definitely not mallinckrodt. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.
Amneal hydrocodone worked good for me, but then my pharmacy switched to "cheaper" Qualitest and won't order what works. I got Par brand from Walmart, which is owned or made by Qualitest. Trying Mallinckrodt, which is not so good. What manufacturer of hydrocodone do you think is best?
