There is no difference, the hcl on the end of the one was just left off of the other, it designates the chemical salt that the medication is derived from.

BOTH Rx CONTAIN 50 MG OF TRAMADOL, BUT ARE DERIVED FROM DIFFERENT FORMULATIONS, THE TRAMADOL 50 MG IS INSTANT RELEASE AND THE HCL IS EXTENDED RELEASE, SLOWER TO ACT, BUT WHICH GIVES LONGER LASTING RELIEF. I SEEM TO RECALL IT'S A MATTER OF A FORMULATION OF HYDROGEN CHLORIDE VERSUS ONE OF HYDROGEN SULFATE.
