Difference Between Oxycodone Hcl And Ir (Top voted first)
UpdatedSome people did about as good of a job explaining that as my 3 year old. Thanks A LOT, I feel so much better now to have read the obvious Cr controlled release to IR instant release. Just a heads up, some dumb nurses do prescribe as hcl and you get the worst generic possible if they do, so care to imply.

Carolyn,
If you don't appreciate the assistance of good natured people why don't you consult your physician. So sad verwon and others provide a useful service if you can't appreciate that well go kick rocks. That's as kind as I can be ugh........
Hello, Carolyn! How are you?
As to the release formulations, what other details do you require?
That is the only difference, the time released CR is released over a period of 12 hours, while the IR is released instantly and the regular release takes about 15 to 20 minutes to start working and it's all released immediately, as well.
As to the HCL, that actually has no effect on the medication you receive from your pharmacy. HCL stands for Hydrochloride, which designates the specific chemical salt that the medication is derived from and it's all Oxycodone Hydrochloride, they just don't always list the HCL on the prescription or the labels from the pharmacy.
The FDA classifies this medication as a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.
Just for the record, nurses don't prescribe anything... doctors do.
