Dexilant Concerns

I was given a weeks sample and then a prescription for 60mg. The Dr. made a mistake on the prescription and put down 2xdaily which i fortunately caught before leaving the store. My concern is, a few days into the sample i developed a worsened dry cough, then caught what i thought was the flu, symptoms being respiratory, fever, severe aches in either joint or muscle. Now I am wondering if these are simply some side effects, i have read online it may well be. I am looking to find an alternative with less flu like side effects, any suggestions? thanx

Dexilant contains the active ingredient Dexslanzoprazole, it is a proton pump inhibitor that is used to help reduce the amount of acid produced by the stomach, to help treat conditions, such as GERD, ulcers, and gastritis.

The symptoms you've described can be side effects of this medication, according to FDA reports, it may also cause bezoars, hiccups, and tinnitus.

However, side effects usually taper off, and eventually go away, once your body gets used to a medication, but that could take 4 to 6 weeks.

I am not sure where you live, so I don't know what other options are available for you. Have you spoken to your doctor about these symptoms?
