Detox At Home With Methadone Taper

I am currently addicted to hydromorphine an I do them IV. I been reading and searching a safe way at home to detox. I tried staying in a medical detox but failed a few times recently. I have purchased methadone pills on the street. Because I am sick and tired of always being sick, either looking for ways, and means to get my fix daily and I sat back and seriously decided enough was enough. The time an energy spent getting and doing them is ridiculous as anyone with this addiction knows. I am really just wondering if anyone personally knows how to effectively taper with the pills at home because I do not want to end up in a position where I am gonna be more sick at the end of the taper cause that will defeat my whole purpose of doing this. Any help or advice will be gladly accepted and thanks in advance. Have a great day.

Hello, Missboo37! How are you feeling? Have you tried the Methadone, yet?

You would really be best served to get yourself into a Methadone treatment clinic, if it's what you want to use to get off the other drug. They don't require a long-term stay, you just go in daily, for awhile, to get your Methadone dose, then you can eventually get a short supply of take home doses.

The reason I'm suggesting this is because Methadone might be very careful dosed to control your withdrawals and cravings. It is also known to be very habit forming in its own right, so it needs to be used under medical supervision.

This is a narcotic analgesic, so it has the potential to be habit forming and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth and constipation.

Does anyone else have any advice to add?
