I take a urine test for my psychiatrist to determine what i have been taking. My question is can they determine the amount of a chemical or it's metabolites through a urine test or is a blood test needed for that? I take clonazepam and at times I have taken greater than the prescribed dose. I'm dosed 1mg twice a day but may use 4-6 mg in a day.

No not through a urine, it only tests to see if it's in ur system. I get 1mg 3x daily but at times my friend runs out about two weeks early but it always shows; but never in what quantity. Only a blood test can do that. I'm very well educated in medications.
