According to the dosing guidelines on DayQuil packaging, adults and children 12 years old and over are instructed to take 2 LiquiCaps with water every 4 hours. So yes, it does appear to be regarded as safe.
If you visit Vicks.com and go to their DayQuil product page, it will show these directions under the section titled "Package Information".
