Dilaudid contains the active ingredient Hydromorphone, a very potent narcotic pain medication.

That said, Dilaudid is a controlled substance and in the U.S. can only be legally obtained with a prescription from a licensed physician.

Also, it is not available in a 5mg strength tablet.

This medication can cause side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and constipation.
