Based on your description, I located the pill to be a 5 mg Methylphenidate HCL tablet. Note that the full marking on this pill is 5882 DAN on one side with a number 5 on the other.

Methylphenidate is the most commonly prescribed psychostimulant and is indicated in the treatment of attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and narcolepsy.
