This is a balanced multiple maintenance IV drip containing 5% Dextrose. It is commonly used to help with dehydration or to ensure and ill person gets enough fluids to avoid becoming dehydrated.

Since it does contain Dextrose, which is a sugar, it should be avoided in diabetics.
