Cyproheptadine Weight Gaining

I have been taking this for about 5 months now and I love it. I have always been small, around 105 pounds. I am at 129 now and loving it. It has increased my breast, and my butt and legs. Be careful because it will (the weight) will go to other places like your arms and stomach. Once you first start taking it, my experience is that it will make you SO Sleepy but once your body gets use to it the sleep will wear off. It is prescription and you take 1 pill 3 times a day.

Doctors do prescribe it especially for ill people who have lost weight do to cancer etc...

Hey. I am 22 and 5'10" but weigh only 50kg. You say Periactin improves appetite and anyone can gain weight, and now I am talking about one of my big bad habits that is consuming marijuana. I am a regular smoker, so does Periactin work for me or not? Please reply because I am late over here.

I took peri actin at 138lbs and gained 20 in two months..it does make you sleepy first week but will wear off..however I went from a size 4-8 loving it

Hello Tiffany, I started taking cyproheptadine about 2 weeks ago and have gained about 10lbs but it seems to be all in my stomach....girl I look pregnant. People have asked me that. I know you are not a doctor but is that normal?

This medication shouldn't be taken for weight gain, unless your doctor has specifically prescribed it for such use.

Additionally, since the weight gain is a side effect, it will also slow down, as your body gets used to the medication and it will not continue, once you stop taking it. You'll most likely just lose all the weight you gained.

The FDA actually classifies this medication as an antihistamine, which is most commonly used to treat allergic reactions. Other side effects may include drowsiness, dizziness and dry mouth.
