Cutting Metoprolol Er Iin Half

Does cutting metoprolol er 100 in half at the score have any effect on the extended release?

To my understanding, cutting an extended release pill in half does have an effect on its time-release properties. I honestly don't know if this only pertains to "capsules" rather than "tablets", since they are different forms in and of themselves. Often times the score line does indicate that the pill can be divided in half, but unless your doctor gives you the ok, I would suggest playing it safe in either case. You may even want to talk to your doctor about lowering your dosage to 50mg Metoprolol succinate extended-release tablets. This way you can always take another dose without worrying about messing up the time-release properties.
