Hi. I live in NSW Australia. I am having monthly CDT blood tests ( measure of alcohol consumption over a monthly basis) The 1st 7 tests have been negative. The last two results where high and I am shattered. I had been really sick with the flu and bronchitis for over 3 weeks. I couldn't eat or sleep and was taking the strongest over the counter cough mixture I could, almost 1 bottle a day just to get some sleep. Plus cold & flu tablets & demazen or phernegan because I was coughing so much & couldn't sleep & I was exhausted. Didn't think at the time and wondering how much they it can influence the test. Thanxt

Did you check the ingredients of the cough syrup?
The FDA lists many of them as containing alcohol, so that could be what caused the problem, especially if you were ingesting a lot of it.
Usually, you have to specifically look for one that doesn't contain alcohol.
