Why can't patients under 17 use it? What harm could a topical steroid really cause?

There are actually several reasons and they vary by the age of the pediatric patient.

For instance, in children under 12, there have been cases where they absorbed too much of it, due to their smaller body mass to skin ratio and suffered dangerous toxicity, this may also apply to those from 13 to 17.

And for children from 13 to 17, there have been instances of adrenal suppression from its use.

And all children from 12 to 17 risk developing Cushing's Syndrome from using it.

Is growth a concern in children under 12? My son had a bad rash and was given Triamcinolone Acetone Cream USP 0.1% 30 g. He did not use the whole tube. He used the cream for apprx. 7 - 9 days. The rash seemed better and discontinued use. (He told me the rash was gone.) Months later he got the same rash bur worse and was given 45 Gm CLOSTRIM/BETA CREAM 1-0.05% - Generic for Lotristone Cream 45 g. He only used this for 7 - 9 days. Should I be concerned for delayed or stunted growth?
