Clonidine is not approved to treat sleep issues, in either adults or children, however, it is an offlabel use, generally used to counteract sleep problems that have been induced by stimulant drugs used to treat ADD and ADHD.

Drowsiness is one of its most common side effects, as well as dry mouth, light headedness, dizziness and constipation.
