Clear Cough Syrup

I am 56 years old. When I was a preteen my dad used to give my sister and I a clear medicine. It was the most horrible medicine I ever tasted! My OLD doctor said it was taken off the shelves because of miss use. I was trying to remember the name.

I remember a clear cough syrup that was AWFUL called terpinhydrate. My brother & I used to run from it, but it really worked. It was discontinued in the 90's.
